How have your priorities changed from middle school to high school?

Middle school to high school is a big change. I definitely did not know what I was in for. First, the homework load in 8th grade, especially, was almost nothing. I remember that the longest I spent on homework last year was a hour and a half. As a freshman, I have much, much more homework. I really have to work on my time management and think ahead to what is due in a couple of days, and start that a couple days prior to the due date. In middle school, I could do something the night before when something big was due. Now, I cannot do that.

I’ve also learned to use my tutorials very wisely. Last year in flex, we did a little bit of work but I normally socialized. Now, I go see my teachers almost every day. I want to use my time well and I feel productive when I go see my teachers, but it’s hard a lot of the times because majority of my friends use tutorial as a socializing time, and I want to be with them. However, I have to make the mature move and go do work. It definitely pays off, though!

  1. I agree. The homework is a lot but we have tutorial. 8th grade seems so easy now!

  2. I agree with you Hayley, the work load sometimes seems like its too much and it never ends. Using tutorials wisely is a big part of how much work you go home with. I like how you talked about "the mature move" because its true. Great job!
